Course Name:American Government
Entity:Ansley High School
Description:COURSE DESCRIPTION of American Government:

Our govt. has been running on one of the oldest Constitutions in the world.  The Constitution of the United States is built on six basic principles of government.

 1. Popular Sovereignty
 2. Limited Government
3. Separation of Powers
 4. Judicial Review
5. Checks and Balances
6. Federalism

The Framers of the Constitution drew on their knowledge and experience to craft a document that
serves as “the supreme law of the land.” These six principles, and the Constitution itself, have proved an
enduring yet flexible guide for governing the nation for over 200 years.  This class will draw on each of these
basic principles to enhance our knowledge of just what goes on in our government.
Ex: History of our government, Voting, Three branches of government, Outline of our Constitution, etc.
